These positions are located in Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Maintenance and Engineering Division. These are Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 08/13/2023 whichever comes first. Duties

Major Duties: The position is a Maintenance Worker for the Blue Ridge Parkway. Three positions will be hired, one at each of the following duty stations: Montebello Sub-District located in Augusta County, Virginia; James River Sub-District in Bedford County, Virginia; and Vinton Sub-District, located in Roanoke County, Virginia. The primary purpose of the position is to assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers under general supervision in general landscaping and grounds maintenance, basic carpentry, simple electrical installations or repairs, basic plumbing work, and painting interior and exterior surfaces, and perform a variety of janitorial services. Removes trash and debris from roadway and road sites. Operates farm type tractors and associated attachments used to mow maintained roadside landscape areas. Operates trucks up to 1-ton to pick up supplies, transport materials to and from work site, picking up materials from local vendors, or plowing snow as needed. Area/Duty Station Information: The Blue Ridge Parkway extends 469 miles along the crest of the southern Appalachian Mountains through North Carolina and Virginia between two eastern national parks - Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains. Montebello, Virginia - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Montebello Maintenance Area, which boarders three counties in Virginia: Augusta, Rockbridge and Nelson. The duty station is located approximately 25 miles from Lexington, VA and 30 miles from Waynesboro, VA. All goods and services are available in Lexington, Waynesboro and the surrounding communities. Bedford, Virginia - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the James River Maintenance Area, which is located in Bedford, Virginia, approximately 20 miles from Lynchburg, Virginia. Bedford boasts the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north, Smith Mountain Lake to the south, Lynchburg to the east, and Roanoke to the west. Vinton, Virginia - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Vinton Maintenance Area, which is located near Roanoke, Virginia.
