These positions are located in the Patient Benefits Section of Health Administration Service (HAS) at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Authorizes and arranges for transportation and/or mileage at government expense to beneficiaries and their attendants traveling to and from VA facilities.
Coordinates all administrative activities, providing support and assistance to the staff.
Maintains workload reports.
Reviews/processes vouchers for reimbursement of travel costs.
Makes travel arrangements for all patients being transferred to and from the medical center.
Prepares and computes vouchers for cash reimbursement of mileage allowance.
Audits completed invoices and final certification prior to submission of payment.
Counsels beneficiaries on application procedures, entitlement factors, and changes to entitlements that might initiate or alter benefits.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
EXPERENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Transportation Assistant Beneficiary Travel Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes applying transportation regulations and practices to perform a wide variety of administrative support; coordinating travel arrangements; maintaining records, utilizing databases, reconciling records and generating reports; investigating/resolving issues and taking corrective actions; and communicating effectively with a wide variety of individuals. ~OR~
EDUCATION: Successful completion of four (4) years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year)) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
