The Social Work Supervisor oversees service delivery and coordination of care activities for family caregivers who provide personal care services to eligible Veterans regardless of period of service. The CSP includes the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and the Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) at the VA Health Care System.

Duties

The Incumbent provides the full range of supervisory duties which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; selection of staff, training of staff, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action. The Social Worker Supervisor should have at least two years in an area of specialized social work practice and must be independently licensed or certified by a state to practice at the advanced practice level.. Duties include but not limited to: Establishes and maintains an ongoing education program for Veterans, caregivers, community agencies, students, and staff to facilitate understanding of clinical practice guidelines, mental health issues, readjustment issues and psychosocial issues facing caregivers. Develops and implements a plan for outreach to Veterans and Veteran caregivers who may benefit from the CSP program services (but who do not presently use VA for their health care needs). Maintains a current network of referral resources to include peer support mentoring groups, caregiver skill building and self-care educational opportunities, mental health support, legal and financial services. Directly supervises the VA HCS Caregiver Support Coordinator(s) (CSC) and, when applicable, Program Support Assistant (PSA) and other interprofessional staff assigned to Caregiver Support Program as outlined in VHA Directive 11152(1 ), Caregiver Support Program. Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to caregivers, families and Veterans. Develops implements and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services. Manages CSP clinical and business operations, accountability for program effectiveness, and modification of service patterns to comply with the delivery of standardized processes found within Directive 1152(1 ). Addresses Congressional inquiries, VISN, and VA Central Office action items as requested. Manages all aspects of the PFCAFC and the PGCSS to ensure eligible caregivers have awareness and access to the national Caregiver Support Line (CSL), VHA's Peer Support Mentoring Program, self-care and resiliency building trainings (e.g. Building Better Caregivers), and personal care service skill development trainings (e.g., VHA Caregiver Core Curriculum) regardless of era of service. Manages all processes, procedures, and practices associated with program eligibility and participation (i.e., enrollment, level of care and tier assignment, and discharge) to ensure application processing, tier adjustments, and program revocations follow local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and align with national policy and governing regulations for timeliness and quality process and practice outcomes. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. (Copies for transcripts must be provided with application) Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. (Copies of License and Certification must be submitted with application) English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. ? 7403(f). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grandfathering Provision. The following is the standard grandfathering policy for all title 38 hybrid qualification standards. Please carefully review the qualification standard to determine the specific education and/or licensure/certification/registration requirements that apply to this occupation. Preferred Experience: Licensed at the LCSW or equivalent One year experience in an area of specialized social work practice. Supervisory Experience Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12: One (1) year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. Ability to provide staff training and development. Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers. Assignments: For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. At the GS-12 grade level, supervisory social workers typically have significant personnel management responsibilities for a small to moderate sized professional and non-professional staff, including support staff and professional staff at the GS-12 grade level and below. The supervisory social worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care/product line, or multiple facilities. They provide direct clinical services with or without program coordination responsibilities. Physical Requirements: Traveling throughout the medical center and the community is required, as is performing activities involving sitting, walking, and standing, bending and carrying such items as books, papers, and files. In carrying out responsibilities it may be necessary for the incumbent to travel into the community where he/she conducts interviews with the veterans, their families, representatives of community health and welfare agencies and law enforcement agencies. The incumbent must possess current driver's license and drive a government vehicle in carrying out professional duties when deemed necessary.
