Duties
The Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is required to develop criteria that will be used in making recommendations regarding the modernization or realignment of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities. Subtitle A of Title II of the Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act of 2018 (Pub. L. 115-182), requires VA to develop criteria that will be used to assess and make recommendations regarding the modernization or realignment of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities ("Selection Criteria").
This position is part of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs The Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. The PACT Act is a historic new law that will help VA deliver for millions of Veterans - and their survivors - by empowering us to presumptively provide care and benefits to Veterans suffering from more than 20 toxic exposure-related conditions. It will also bring generations of Veterans into Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care, which will improve Veteran health outcomes across the board. The PACT Act expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances. This law helps us provide generations of Veterans - and their survivors with the care and benefits they've earned and deserve.
This position Senior Advisor will report to the Office of the Under Secretary for Health. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for developing a criteria to be used in making recommendations regarding the infrastructure or realignment of VHA facilities.
As a Senior Advisor the incumbent will serve as an integrator and transformational leader to the DUSH in support of the Office of the Secretary and will perform the following duties:
- Provides executive level support and will be responsible for the triage of all requests for information from Stakeholders related to SECVA recommendations to the PACT Act.
- Analyzes, evaluates and will be responsible for the timely submission of Communications plans, strategies and products related to the PACT Act;
- Coordinates and provides timely clearance of products, as well as the analysis related to the communications with Senior Leaders;
- Serves as the VHA Representative and performs special and recurring assignments involving contact with public officials or professional organizations interested in VA/VHA polices, plans and operations;
- Manages the strategic approach of all PACT Act recommendations as required, coordinating strategic development, integration of potential requirements, and ensuring the planning, implementation and execution of PACT Act activities;
- Ensures cross-organizational synchronization and consistent, positive outcomes by ensure strategies and plans are successfully executed while leading collaborative efforts with all appropriate stakeholders; and
- Provides oversight and leads on behalf of the USH and SECVA at briefings, discussions, and meetings with PACT Act Members and Staff.
