Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Communications Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serving as a liaison to the office of the Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs (ASPA) and maintaining a working knowledge of policy announcements and activities of the Department- to share with the full IEA team for the purposes of enhancing their work and inspiring their engagement. Leading HQ and regional newsletter production and distribution by preparing a variety of documents, including a HQ newsletter that you will distribute (weekly and ad hoc, with timely news) to thousands of external stakeholders, and a regional newsletter template that can be customized and shared locally by the Offices of the Regional Director to their stakeholders. Leading media and social efforts for IEA and corresponding professional development for the team in these areas, including promoting HHS activities through IEA social handles and platforms; recommending social media ideas to the Offices of the Regional Director based on current events. Managing our listserv in Salesforce, including cleaning up the lists, tagging stakeholders as appropriate, and consistently adding interested stakeholders; in addition, managing all HQ sends through Marketing Cloud (must be proficient in Salesforce and Marketing Cloud platforms).

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR For GS-11 Grade Level: A. Possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: (1) Writing materials that articulate, interpret, and/or explain a variety of subjects tailored to specific media and/or audience; (2) Editing materials that articulate, interpret, and/or explain a variety of subjects tailored to specific media and/or audience; (3) Researching and presenting various organizational topics to a variety of audiences. OR B. Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related from an accredited college and/or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. OR C. Possess combination of specialized experience as described in "A" above and graduate education as described in "B" above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement.
