About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the IMCOM Garrison Fort Cavazos Directorate, Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security, Security Division, in Killeen, Texas.

Duties

Serves as a Security Specialist in a garrison Security Office within the Installation Management Command (IMCOM). Serves as a Security Specialist for one or more security programs (e.g. Information Security, Industrial Security, Personnel Security, or their associated training requirements) defined by AR 380-series regulations. Interprets higher level guidance and incorporates it into the program as required. Administers policies, practices, and metrics that reflect the security posture of garrison. Conducts analyses to identify program issues and develops/implements remedial actions. Evaluates security program resources within the installation and initiates programming, budgeting, and manpower actions to address requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain the SFPC certification within their first two years of employment.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and then continue to maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Special Background Investigation for the duties required.
  • TDY Travel will be less than 25% of the work schedule.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. OR A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityPersonnel SecuritySecurity Education, Training and AwarenessSecurity Program Management Accountabilities Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
