About the Position: Serve as Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Small Market and Stand-Alone Organization (SSO), Military Treatment Facility (MTF), West Point, NY.

Duties
Confirm accuracy and consistency of enrollee information within the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), and with other data systems.
Verify patient enrollment and eligibility for services, advises beneficiaries regarding the services available in the Military Medical Treatment Facility and how to access those services.
Provide patients with assistance and information to obtain appointments within access to care standards for referred care or medical equipment ordered by a licensed provider.
Process written provider clinical care results also called clearly legible reports (CLRs) and authorizations for network care according to currently accepted guidelines.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying patient enrollment and eligibility for services; advising beneficiaries regarding services available and how to access those services; and confirming accuracy of enrollee information through the use of data systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
