This position of Program Support Assistant (OA) is located within the Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service Line. Home Based Primary Care is a program which provides healthcare to Veterans in a home setting. A recruitment incentive of up to 7% of salary has been authorized for eligible, highly qualified candidates.

Duties

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community. This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to Honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. The Program Support Assistant is located within the Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service Line. Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) is a specialized program which provides interdisciplinary healthcare to Veterans in their home setting. The PSA will assist the HBPC program director in all clerical and administrative facets of the program and oversee the program in his or her absence. You will participate actively in the management of the HBPC office by performing routine administrative and clerical duties. Major duties listed but not limited to: Maintains a calendar of appointments, meetings, conferences, and deadlines for the Service Chief Timely communicates suspense items and maintains a suspense file of due dates for assignments and follows up to ensure that all suspense's are accomplished on or before the due date Communicates effectively with customers, staff and management Performs office automation work on personal computer utilizing multiple programs to complete documentation Answers phones, faxes and alerts in a timely and professional manner Runs monthly reports and pulls data as needed Responsible for tracking all GSA vehicle requirements and submitting in a timely fashion Maintains office supplies, medical supplies and equipment Tracks all Care plans and runs the Interdisciplinary Meetings Work Schedule: 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday(Work hours may be further discussed during interview) Telework: One day a month may be authorized. VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/17/2023. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Answering phones, scheduling appointments, writing correspondence, building and managing reports and spreadsheets, greeting guests, ascertaining business and directing to appropriate personnel. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four years above high school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: ClericalCommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes Information Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
