This position is located at Departmental Offices,Domestic Finance. As a/an Policy Advisor, you will handle difficult and responsible assignments, including market, legal, and policy research and analysis of how state and local governments finance their programs and current issues and trends in the municipal securities market.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Monitor developments in the financial markets, and related legislative, regulatory and policy developments;
Monitor developments in financial institutions, and related legislative, regulatory and policy developments;
Monitor developments in financial stability, and related legislative, regulatory and policy developments;
Conduct research on a wide range of issues related to Domestic Finance, including financial research, legal research, regulatory and policy developments;
Summarize findings and research in written products of various types, including tables, charts, short summaries, as well as longer memos, presentations, and reports;
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Composing written research and analysis on how state and local government entities finance their programs (e.g., bond market activities or other forms of municipal credit); AND
Writing policy or analytical papers, memoranda or reports on state and local financial management issues, and other written materials for public or senior management consumption; AND
Conducting market, legal, or policy research on state and local financing and budgeting; AND
Presenting findings and research in written products of various types such as tables, charts, short summaries, or longer memos, presentations and reports.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Assisting in preparing written research and analysis on how state and local government entities finance their programs (e.g., bond market activities or other forms of municipal credit); AND
Assisting in writing policy or analytical papers, memoranda or reports on state and local financial management issues, and other materials for public or senior management consumption; AND
Conducting market, legal, or policy research on state and local financing.
Time in Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
