This position is located in the Office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), in Phoenix, AZ. The incumbent is responsible for the management of all aspects of the credentialing and privileging program for the medical staff. The primary function of the incumbent is to employ expert-level knowledge in managing the credentialing and privileging process and advising the CMO on relevant issues.
Duties
Continuously ensures medical center compliance with myriad and complex regulations; multiple agencies; and the Joint Commission accreditation standards.
Provides completed information packages that allow appropriate decision-making by individuals in clinical authority positions.
Responsible for continually surveying the hospital industry in order to be able to advise the CMO and Credentials Committee on the potential benefits and risks of employing new software packages and other methodologies in a variety of credentialing tasks. This surveying is performed through ongoing interaction with community hospitals and professional organizations.
Reviews the findings of internal and external administrative reviews and audits, interprets and analyzes those reports, and provides advice on any modifications or corrections to operations which are necessary to maintain compliance.
Collaborates with hospital personnel in providing information on and orientation to new employees, contractors and volunteers, orienting them to clinical services policies and procedures, credentialing and privileging, by-laws and all other administrative functions of the Medical Staff.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS. GS-0301-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Comprehensive knowledge in credentialing and privileging, professional licensing boards and accreditation standards. Knowledge, skill and ability to resolve issues, work independently, use judgement while performing the credentialing process.
OR
Completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-09 grade level. (Must submit transcripts.)
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
