About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is: To perform senior lead technician providing financial management analysis that support DHA and MHS Financial Management mission accomplishment for the 96th MDG, Eglin AFB. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in Department of Defense (DoD) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Receive, review, and classifies complex transactions requiring reconstruction. Analyzes and adjust accounting records and provides guidance in establishing account structure and configuration. Constructs a concise audit trail supporting the required adjustments. Utilizes spreadsheets to prove accuracy and adequacy of reconciliation for local, AFMRA, DHA, and DFAS reports. Analyzes and corrects accounting errors to ensure transactions are submitted into the next update cycle as scheduled by DFAS. Reviews status of reimbursement accounts and other accounting records within the automated systems such as ABACUS, OTCNET, CRIS, DEAMS, GFEBS, and CIR. Maintains, reconciles, and closes accounts involving a variety of transactions. Resolves complex problems encountered by other technicians in maintaining, reconciling, and closing accounts where guidelines are not completely applicable to the work. Analyzes and examines accounting data and accounts to resolve complex, nonstandard transactions, complaints, or discrepancies. Research current account, previous reports, source documents, etc., to develop accurate and timely information not readily available from previous reports and statements.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent may be required to work overtime at various times during the year, sometimes on short notice, based on organizational requirements.
• Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station.
• This is a Financial Level 2 certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program.
• The employee will comply with locally directed MTF Commander training consistent with AF wide standards and directives applicable to Active Duty and contractor personnel performing similar occupational series duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing any of the following which includes: Utilizing accounting automated systems such as ABACUS, OTCNET, CRIS, DEAMS, GFEBS, and CIR; submitting medical billing and processing re-imbursements; reconciling and closing accounts receivable; and/or utilizing spreadsheets to track billing transactions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
