Duties

You will be perform general repairs and protective maintenance in a timely manner. You will interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications. You will select and obtain appropriate materials and replacement parts by comparison with defective parts or review of supply lists and catalogs. You will use and maintain hand tools, power tools and test devises required to accomplish tasks. You will install equipment and minor construction projects according to specifications and instructions. You will perform equipment checks and perform preventative inspections. You will locate, repair, replace and clean defective pipes, faucets, joints, fixtures and equipment. You will perform necessary preparatory work prior to painting or coating to ensure surfaces are free of dents, scratches and loose paint.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You may be required to work outside normal duty hours (overtime, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This is not a Drug Test Designated Position. The employee is not subject drug testing but may be tested for reasonable suspicion or if involved in an on-the-job related accident.
  • This position requires employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
  • This position requires the employee to have the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth.
  • This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • This position requires the employee to possess and maintain the applicable license(s), certification(s) or authorizations to operate assigned equipment and accomplish assigned duties.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification is required. In accordance with section 608 CAA 1990, incumbent must be certified as a universal technician as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Installs, repairs, overhauls, and performs maintenance on a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems; and troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs ventilation equipment.
