At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.

Duties

As a Chief of Staff, you will: Coordinate the development of strategic plans to enhance the capacity of FinCEN to accomplish its mission. Work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to anticipate, understand, and implement the Director's vision and priorities and to execute programs. Coordinate the review and appraisal of significant policy issues and complex questions that have major implications for FinCEN and the Department of the Treasury. Work with other senior executives, management, and staff to ensure that the Director is provided with information for use in making policy decisions, attending meetings, making public statements, reaching human resources decisions, and in other matters regarding significant issues. Provide advice on, and evaluations of legislative issues, administrative proposals, recommendations, and special reports requiring the Director's attention and approval. Draw on experiences to address complex/varied needs of the organization and put work efforts in context with other government agencies. Direct the initiation, design, and completion of studies, special projects, papers, or problems to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and operations or the productivity and efficiency of management. Determine whether they should be endorsed as presented, returned for changes, or presented to the Director. Exercise authority as a management official to formulate, determine, and influence FinCEN's policies, programs, and procedures on behalf of the Director. Relay the Director's instructions to FinCEN managers, supervisors and employees to ensure the staff is fully apprised of the Director's views. Meet with and seeks input from senior executive officials and others at FinCEN concerning a wide variety of cases, special projects, issues, challenges, and special needs, including human resources. Communicate with and represent the Director in meetings and conferences involving high-level officials within the Department of the Treasury, other Federal agencies, business and industry executives, members of Congress, and high-level representatives of both public and private sector domestic and international organizations to anticipate, understand, and implement the Director's vision and priorities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience for the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Independently providing exhaustive technical advice/consulting support to senior leaders specific to issues that can have major implications; AND Implementing and guiding initiatives for accomplishing organizational objectives/achievements; AND Leading or supervising the work of staff involved in multifaceted program segments and programs of technical, managerial, and administrative work. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
