About the Position: Processing Command (USMEPCOM) is a joint Department of Defense command responsible for processing applicants into 5 branches of military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard). The primary purpose of this position is to provide additional administrative assistance with the transportation arrangements for military enlistees. Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services.
Duties
Provide administrative assistance with transportation of recruits from the MEPS.
Prepare orders and pertinent information from enlistment documents.
Conduct travel briefing and provide meal checks to traveling recruits shipping out of the MEPS.
Coordinate travel arrangements with senior service liaisons, airlines, the DTMO, and Commercial Travel Office (CTO) to secure airline tickets.
Make ground transportation arrangements for the shippers from the MEPS to the airport and training site.
Conduct the pre-enlistment and/or the pre-accession interviews of applicants in order to gather information previously not disclosed which would bear on moral or physical suitability for enlistment.
Screen applicant records to ascertain that all necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.
Prepare delayed entry program orders for active duty and Reserve personnel assigned to the Navy, Air Force, Army, Army Reserve, Coast Guard and Marines.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
- This position may shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes answering telephones, greeting visitors, filing, operating office equipment, preparing transportation orders and reviewing documents for completeness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
