About the Position: Serves as a Mobilization Specialist for the U.S. Army Garrison, Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division. This position is TERM Not to Exceed 2 years with provisions to be extended up to a maximum of eight years and to be made permanent. See Additional Information Section regarding the conversion of Term appointments.

Duties

Serve as mobilization and deployment plans and computer support specialist for the Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) facility. Plan, organize and perform operational duties associated with mobilization of Reserve Component (RC) units and deployment of Active Duty (AC) and (RC) units. Manage the SRP facility human resources personnel processing systems and provides data reports to validate readiness. Prepare, publish and continually update personnel related mobilization and deployment plans, policies and procedures. Serve as the installation central point of contact for management of the Deployment and Reconstitution Tracking Software (DARTS) system used to validate SRP. Manage the installation Microsoft Office Access deployment database used to track all aspects of mobilization and deployment processing.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
  • This position is designated as a "Key" Position and in accordance with (IAW) AR 690-11, shall not be vacated during national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position will require the incumbent to be willing and able to accept that they may be required to take part in readiness exercises, must be removed from military recall status, and may not join a reserve unit during a mobilization.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: GS-09: Experience Required for GS-9: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: Utilize features in an Automated Office Systems to enhance operational efficiency; Analyze data from multiple data outputs to validate data integrity; plan and coordinate resources to execute Readiness Processing operations; prepare mobilization and deployment operational plans, policies, procedures and general correspondence in accordance with regulatory guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, from an accredited college or university, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
