This position is located in the Tax Division, Office of Management and Administration, Office of Automated Litigation Support (ALS) and provides support to trial attorneys and other personnel in handling litigation for the Division.

Duties

As a Litigation Technology Case Manager GS-0301-12/13, you will serve as an automated litigation support and e-Discovery Specialist in a legal office. Your typical work assignments may include the following: Designs and manages database systems (i.e., Relativity) for region-wide access by multiple users and monitors data integrity to ensure the accuracy and currency of the information contained in the databases. Manages the technology components of the case for the life of the matter; advises attorneys and legal support teams on E-Discovery and case technology best practices, including advising on technical automated data processing (ADP) information related to the subject matter of the case or investigations. Participates as lead E-Discovery expert in conferences with taxpayers and representatives, key employees at other federal and state agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service or, if necessary, the court, as to issues relating to electronic discovery and the incumbent's knowledge of electronic discovery tools. Provides expert advice and consultation to Tax Division attorneys and legal support staff on ways to apply and integrate technological capabilities throughout every aspect of the case investigation and litigation. Exercises judgment, resolves issues, and reports significant problems to management. Provides advice to attorneys and legal staff teams in understanding advanced analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities of supported software tools and applications, and advises trial staff on leveraging these tools to meet critical case needs. Determines need and prescribes use of such technology to solve difficult data and electronic document problems.

Requirements

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Litigation Technology Case Manager at (GS-0301-12/13), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-12, you MUST have at least one year of specialized experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector at the GS-11 grade level which includes working in a law firm or other legal office setting providing automated litigation/e-discovery support to attorneys involved in litigation. E-Discovery experience is required. Examples of specialized experience include: preparing large and complex document reviews in Relativity or similar e-litigation software (e.g., Everlaw, CS Disco, Clearwell, Nuix, iConect, Recommind, ViewPoint, Reveal, Eclipse, etc.); advising attorneys on appropriate workflow to best handle e-Discovery on a given matter; and assisting with trial preparation such as building electronic presentations using e-litigation trial software such as Sanction, Trial Director and Oncue. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-13, you MUST have at least one year of specialized experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector at the GS-12 grade level which includes working in a law firm or other legal office setting providing automated litigation/e-discovery support to attorneys involved in civil and/or criminal litigation. E-Discovery experience is required. Examples of specialized experience include: managing large and complex document reviews in Relativity or similar e-litigation software (e. g, Everlaw, CS Disco, Clearwell, Nuix, iConect, Recommind, ViewPoint, Reveal, Eclipse, etc.); advising attorneys on appropriate workflow to best handle e-Discovery on a given matter; formulating complex searches and generating illustrative reports using Early Case Assessment (ECA) and Native Review tools; assisting with trial preparation by building electronic presentations using e-litigation software such as Sanction, Trial Director and Oncue.; preparing for and participating in Rule 26(f) conferences required under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP); and advising attorneys on statutory limitations for receipt and collection of materials under the Stored Communications Act (SCA).
