This position is located at the Great Plains Area Youth Regional Treatment Center, Great Plains Area Indian Health Service, Wakpala, SD. The purpose of the position is to provide nursing direction to the residential substance abuse treatment services to adolescent Native American youth in accordance with the Indian Health Service policies. This position also serves as the Quality Manager for the performance improvement
activities of the facility.
Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on nursing assessment and on the physician's medical plan of care.
Provide counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and identifying disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
Identify individual patient problems and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-9: I have at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Examples
of experience include: experience implementing established protocols and standing orders for handling patients; experience providing care to patients whose conditions are characterized by extremely complex health care needs; Experience recognizing life threatening emergencies and initiating immediate care until assistance is obtained.
