This position is located at the Great Plains Area Youth Regional Treatment Center, Great Plains Area Indian Health Service, Wakpala, SD. The purpose of the position is to provide nursing direction to the residential substance abuse treatment services to adolescent Native American youth in accordance with the Indian Health Service policies. This position also serves as the Quality Manager for the performance improvement activities of the facility.

Duties

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on nursing assessment and on the physician's medical plan of care. Provide counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and identifying disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required. Identify individual patient problems and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Examples of experience include: experience implementing established protocols and standing orders for handling patients; experience providing care to patients whose conditions are characterized by extremely complex health care needs; Experience recognizing life threatening emergencies and initiating immediate care until assistance is obtained. or I possess a Master's degree in professional nursing Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only) Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
