This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service, Crop Bioprotection Research in Peoroa. IL.
In this position, you will serve as a personal assistant to the Research Leader (RL) and other professional staff, coordinating a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to the program administration of the Management Unit processes.
Duties
Participates in program planning support work such as research project coordination, travel documentation, budget coordination/tracking, agreements, and purchasing/procurement of supplies and equipment, and human resources administration.
Provides training and advisory services to the Research Leader and professional staff in all program administrative procedures ensuring compliance with regulations.
Serves as the primary administrative business process point of contact for the unit.
Uses an electronic calendar, database or spreadsheet software to document employee leave schedules and to commit the RLs time for appointments and meetings; transmits and receives documents and messages electronically.
Uses a variety of graphical, spreadsheet, and database software packages (e.g., QuatroPro, Excel) to obtain statistical data from published reports and manipulate data to produce tables and charts for program management and administrative use.
Prepares graphics, photos/slides, creates tables and graphs based on statistical data for RL and professional staff for use in presentations at meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Prepares travel requests and vouchers for foreign and domestic travel. Maintains a detailed knowledge of travel policies and regulations in order to serve as a technical resource to unit personnel.

Qualifications

GS-06
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience preparing and maintaining Time and Attendance (T&A) reports; advising on procedural or documentation requirements for research plans, progress reports, manuscripts, or grants; and using a variety of database software packages to enter data into systems.
GS-07
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience preparing or reviewing financial documents; using computer programs to prepare and review written documents; and providing information on policies, procedures or guidelines.
