About the Position: Serves as Engineering Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Technician responsible for applying technical CADD methods, techniques and procedures to locate, collect, process, assimilate, analyze, and produce data from various sources and incorporate them into design data. Prints, plots and transfers in electronic format, maps and models. Coordinates specific GIS mapping and modeling requirements with other team members.

Duties

Prepare requests for civil works and military projects. Evaluate, processes, and transforms survey and utility data into base engineering drawings. Serve as Engineering Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Technician responsible for applying technical CADD methods, Independently develop new design layouts or uses previously approved designs of similar type project as guide, modifying them to meet specific conditions. Develop maps from the processed survey data by using various software programs, including Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) programs. Perform annual inventory and control of survey equipment on vessel, to include control of pilferable property.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:(1) creating 2-D surface maps using GIS and/or design software, (2) developing drawings related to civil works for barracks, dorms, renovations, navigation, flood control, ecosystems restoration and emergency operation projects, and (3) conducting job site reconnaissance of facility construction or dam safety projects to collect data for projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For GS-11, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
