About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, GA. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Civilian Pay Technician providing a variety of payroll services, processes, advisory assistance and functions for assigned organizations.

Duties

Reviews and interprets a wide range of payroll laws, policies, regulations, directives, Defense Civilian Pay System (DCPS) Payroll Office Advisory Releases regarding DCPS application systems. Perform as liaison and customer service representative ensuring immediate or timely responsive service to officials, senior personnel, and employees within and outside of the local command. Provides liaison services with appropriate budget offices and Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) providing support to multiple organizations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Position requires SECRET security clearance.
  • A qualified typist is required.
  • THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position. Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: reviewing automated system records of time and attendance; Compiling and verifying the accuracy of civilian payroll data; Researching and resolving civilian pay discrepancies; and providing customer service in an office setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Or Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Finance or Accounting. Or Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial Management SystemsProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
