You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER in the WEAPONS AND ENERGETICS DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.
Duties
You will provide authoritative technical knowledge regarding all technical aspects of the Launch Test Facility (LTF) and cold-gas launch testing to all stake holders (internal and external).
You will be responsible for technical and programmatic management of personnel, facilities, and related specialized equipment.
You will develop program roadmaps to expand existing knowledge base via leveraged experimentation and adapt existing infrastructure to new program requirements.
You will determine the risk to facilities and personnel associated with new launch system concepts and when appropriate resist the implementation of such concepts in the face of political pressure.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Navy Explosive-Handler certification.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (DP-03) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Demonstrating experience in launching test system design, testing, and analysis, preferably across numerous weapons programs; 2) Demonstrating project/program management experience, as well as experience training and developing junior and journey-level engineers and leading teams in accomplishing technical and programmatic task; 3) Demonstrating knowledge of both existing and state-of-the-art test hardware and software technologies, proper test processes, and test system design, verification, and qualification; and 4) Demonstrating awareness of current DoD and DoE development efforts and technology goals in the field of test system and process development.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
