This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Technical Information Management Branch (TIMB), Engineering Services Division (ESD), Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must show successful completion of a full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in engineering or related fields. OR Four years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field. Such experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum. Or A combination of education and experience described above. Additional Experience and Education Requirements: GS-9: In addition to meeting the basic requirements listed above, candidates must have 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position and/or one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in federal service. Examples of specialized experience would include: experience using the prescribed thesaurus used for indexing and the rules governing changes to the vocabulary, the cataloging rules used by the organization, or the structure and content of internal databases; knowledge of the commonly accepted concepts, standard methods, techniques, and principles of engineering as they pertain to documentation and technical information and the configuration management of such information; obtain, analyze and organize information using standard reference tools and established techniques and practices; gathering information from a wide variety of sources. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position and which is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
