This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Technical Information Management Branch (TIMB), Engineering Services Division (ESD), Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

The primary purpose of the position is to select and design various elements of visual products for industrial graphics in support of aircraft program depot maintenance.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must show successful completion of a full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in engineering or related fields. OR Four years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field. Such experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum. Or A combination of education and experience described above. Additional Experience and Education Requirements GS-09: In addition to meeting the basic requirements listed above, candidates must have 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position and/or must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience would include: experience using the prescribed thesaurus used for indexing and the rules governing changes to the vocabulary, the cataloging rules used by the organization, or the structure and content of internal databases; knowledge of the commonly accepted concepts, standard methods, techniques, and principles of engineering as they pertain to documentation and technical information and the configuration management of such information; obtain, analyze and organize information using standard reference tools and established techniques and practices; gathering information from a wide variety of sources. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
