About the Position: This is an Information Technology Specialist (Security) position that may be filled as a Temporary appointment or Temporary promotion or Temporary reassignment not to exceed 13 Months by a current permanent Army Employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position located within the Human Resources Command G6, Fort Knox, KY.
Duties
Cybersecurity expert which conducts assessments of threats and vulnerabilities for the cybersecurity program.
Ensure information systems are operated and maintained in accordance with Risk Management Framework.
Document and plan cybersecurity vulnerability findings and sharing of information in support of cybersecurity mission.
Oversee tracking, preparation and validations of Hardware, Software, Risk Acceptance, Plan of Actions and Milestones Team.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Temporary position intended to last 13 Months. A temporary position may be extended to a maximum of five years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment, depending upon the needs of management.
- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- Must possess and maintain IA certifications baseline and computing environment incumbent to their position within six months IAW DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2 and the Information Assurance Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP.)
- Payment of permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.

Specialized Experience for Information Technology Specialist (Information Security): In order to qualify for this position applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level GS-09. Applicant's resume must possess comprehensive experience managing password and user access control for users by establishing user ID and generating, issuing, and controlling passwords based on confirmed authorization for user access. Assists system administrators with AIS media management to label and mark storage media with highest accreditation level of the system, including privacy-act data, and clearing, purging, declassifying, and destroying of media. Possess experience and proficiency identifying and resolving a variety of IT issues and problems; preparing and updating manuals, instructions and operating procedures. Possess experience providing assistance to users in securing AIS and complexities of personal computers (PCs), local area network (LANs), and wide area networks (WANs). Possess operational experience and proficiency developing, plans, and implements hardware, software, systems, data, telecommunications, personnel, physical environment, networks, and firmware. Reviews threat and vulnerability assessments and recommends cost-effective countermeasures and implements security measures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving simple and routine problems, questions, or complaints and providing support and guidance to customers on non-routine issues; serving as a primary resource for customers, requesting assistance with complex issues when necessary; and participating in meetings and providing advice to customers in own area of expertise.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: expressing facts and ideas in a clear, concise, convincing, and organized manner; clearly conveying moderately complex ideas, concepts, and information to customers; exhibiting active listening by demonstrating understanding of audience comments and/or questions.
(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives; recognizing and taking action to address non-routine problems; soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders to understand an issue or problem and accurately assess its root causes and potential solutions; seeking supervisory review where appropriate.

Education
