OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Determine requirements, prepare and submit budget estimates, and administer the funds appropriated annually for construction and coordinates moving when required.
- Develop and recommend and submit requests for minor construction alterations and repairs totaling some $1M annually. Represent OIG in Market Surveys and interfaces with GSA, building personnel, and other agencies regarding space requests, policies, services, and approaches toward project accomplishment.
- Participate in planning, formulating space policy, directing an effective space program, and controlling overall administrative space for OIG.
- Plan and coordinate significant actions for OIG, which commonly involve a series of moves by employees between several buildings and the occupancy of a new space.
- Provide expert assistance on minor construction and space renovation planning helping to formulate efficient, economical space operations and work management policies, criteria, and procedures.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes:
- Applying analytical techniques for assessing the effectiveness or efficiency of space management operations or work processes; AND
- Consolidating information from multiple sources into a completed written document and architectural drawing; AND
- Utilizing communication skills to establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders; AND
- Presenting and implementing recommendations to high level management in order to resolve an issue and/or overcome a challenge.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes:
- Applying analytical techniques for assessing the effectiveness or efficiency of space management operations or work processes; AND
- Consolidating information from multiple sources into a completed written document and architectural drawing; AND
- Utilizing communication skills to establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
