Duties
Inspect work in progress and follow established quality assurance schedules and random sampling processes
Test equipment and systems by review of technical reference manuals and contract specifications.
Inspect work performed meets various standards and codes such as Uniform Plumbing Code, National Electrical Code, and National Fire Protection Standards.
Review the repair history of equipment and provide advice to engineers concerning future repair/replacement needs.
Provide oral and written input on contractor performance.
Verify invoices and progress payment requests to ensure contractors work completed as required.
Inspect equipment to assess the cause of equipment malfunction.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a Tier 1 suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Work Inspector without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Maintenance Work Inspector duties. Perform Maintenance Work Inspector tasks including applying inspection techniques and verify that specifications are being followed by skill trade workers for the repair and maintenance of a variety of mechanical systems and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work at contractor sites requiring periods of standing, stooping, bending and walking. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally handles heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed indoors or outside in all types of weather. Exposed to cuts, bruises, back strains; exposed to more serious injuries from electrical shocks, falls and automobile accidents. May be required to work in asbestos-contaminated areas.
Education
Some Federal positions allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
