About the Position: This position is with the Directorate of Public Works Operations and Maintenance Division Building & Ground Branch, HVAC section at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA.
Duties
Supervise workers directly or through subordinate supervisors and lead mechanics in accomplishing the work of an organizational segment or group.
Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a weekly or monthly basis.
Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences.
Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
Implement corrective actions to resolve work problems. Recommends solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
Recommend disciplinary actions, promotions, reassignments, awards and other personnel actions.
Work with the Quality Control Manager to establish and implement the section Quality Control Plan.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work in progress.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess within 1 year 6 months of appointment and maintain for the duration employment a Class IV Boiler Fireman License or Certificate which supports operation of boiler plants not exceeding an aggregate of 20MBTU/HR.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
- Must possess and maintain an EPA certification IAW 40CFR 82.161

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, perform common Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor tasks, as demonstrated by supervising subordinate workers. Ability to complete maintenance and repair projects using new methods or techniques. Ability to organize work assignments and give counsel to employees on ways to improve performance. Ability to evaluate work and provide guidance through interpreting oral and written instructions to employees.
