This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Lucky Peak Lake is a multi-purpose project providing flood control, irrigation, recreation, fish and wildlife, and hydropower (private) benefits.The work program involves operation and maintenance of the dam as well as diverse natural resource management functions.

Duties

Assists a higher grade Mechanic by taking measurements, measuring and cutting boards to specified lengths and assembling forms as directed. Performs preventative Maintenance on a variety IE, sliding doors, roll up doors, and personal doors. Alone or as a member of a group, performs the more simple tasks of the painting trade. Applies premixed latex and oil based paint by using brushes, rollers, and occasionally spray guns. Assists or works alone in the installation and repair of chipped and damaged steps, walkways, or walls. Installs forms, mixes cement, and shovels in to form and smooth finishes. Replace incandescent bulbs, florescent tubes, fuses, outlets, fixtures, Perform basic plumbing task such as, turn off water valves, stop toilet water overflow, clean sink traps, stop water leaks (temporarily), and unclog sinks, toilets and drains.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance and construction tasks. I can operate common hand tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, or painting trades to perform simple maintenance tasks. In addition, I have the ability to operate motor vehicle, transport equipment/material to job site in preparation of work and clean-up after completion of the work assignment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Individual will work from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms for cramped and hard-to-reach places. Work may require individual to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The individual frequently lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds and occasionally may handle materials and equipment that weigh 45 pounds and over. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of inclement weather conditions. While working incumbent is subject to injury from flying particles of concrete, falls from ladders and physical exertion and injury due to handling heavy tools.
