About the Position: Serves as a Curator for the Army museums in Hawaii with primary focus on U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii (MOH) at Fort DeRussy and secondary focus on Tropic Lightning Museum (TLM) at Schofield Barracks. Primary duty location is MOH at Fort DeRussy and secondary duty location is TLM at Schofield Barracks.

Duties

Monitor researchers and staff studying collections. Assists in proper record keeping to include: identification, cataloging, and supply accountability in accordance with U.S. laws, Army Regulation (AR 870-20), and professional museum standards. Responsible for planning, managing, training, and scheduling, collection access and utilization for assigned staff, other museum professionals, and public/private researchers. Oversees collection access and historical research of a diverse historical collection of artifacts and associated materials. The U.S. Army Center of Military History Museum Division covers U.S. Army Museums worldwide. Performing duties in accordance with army regulations, special museum regulations, and professional standards of museum management and operation. Establishes procedures and programs for the operation of the museums. Assists other museum curators and historians throughout the U.S. Army Center of Military History Museum Division in primary source research for U.S. Army Hawaii Museums' artifacts.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has an irregular tour of duty and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and in other situations.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing historical research on diverse historical collection of artifacts and associated materials to ensure compliance with all physical security guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to state and federal regulations; identifying appropriate research sources to assist researchers and facilitate scholarly publications on the historical collection; Identifying the location of different historical artifacts in the collections and coordinating staff and the public to these artifacts; ensuring historical accuracy and correlations in displays, exhibit, and artifact cataloging concerning to Museum collections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
