About the Position: Syracuse Battalion conducts recruiting operations to accomplish all assigned missions, while continuing to transform to an independent, technology-enabled recruiting force. Conduct force protection operations ISO our Soldiers, families and resources. Set the conditions for success in recruiting and future operations by planning and executing de-centralized, multi-media, mission focused, targeted marketing to increase productivity and expand the quality market.
Duties
Receive calls, greets visitors, handles routine matters and responds to routine and non-technical requests for information and statuses.
Prioritization of duties, commitments, goals to include those of the supervisor and the organization.
Compose and reviews routine correspondence ensuring documents are grammatically correct and adhere to regulations.
Operate a personal computer, word processor or electronic typewriter to type a wide variety of materials (e.g. memos, letters, etc.)
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves: 1) Making travel arrangements; 2) Reviewing correspondence for proper format, spelling, and grammar; AND 3) Utilizing office automated applications such as: electronic mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create documents, maintain data, charts, and presentations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
