DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT
AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel, assigned to the TASMG Engine shop of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Duties
JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD/TASMG performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB).
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).
Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used).
Performs on-the-job training and evaluates training effectiveness.
Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside a well-lighted shop area. Frequently exposed to grease, noise and the possibility of cuts and abrasions from handling tools and parts. Stands on concrete floors for long periods of time. Required to wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job.

- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
- Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
- Direct Deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Must possess a valid state drivers license.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories.
Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft.
Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series.
Experience demonstrating the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment.
Experience demonstrating the ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the work being led and performed personally on Gas Turbine Engines.
Skill in passing on instructions, demonstrating work procedures, and providing training to others on Gas Turbine Engines.
Knowledge of work procedures and processes, test procedures, and inspection requirements applicable to the work.
Skill in using tools, measuring devices, equipment, and machinery of the trade.
Skill in interpreting work orders, technical data, and other specifications to assure compliance with work requirements and documentation of same.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training..

UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit in state
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
