Duties

This Supervisory Transportation Security Inspector position is located Security Operations, Compliance, (1- Major Cases Branch and 1- SEPO) Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Uses thorough technical knowledge and experience to supervise the application of all initiatives directed by the branch from a national perspective and provides direct management, guidance, and supervision for domestic Transportation Security Specialists, national inspectors, as well as feedback and guidance to all compliance personnel. Tracks and monitors progress of work products created by branch and field staff to develop mitigation and efficiency strategies for continuous program development, prepares and/or reviews metric reports, in-depth briefing papers, discussion points, memoranda, responses, and other documents. Establishes case management strategies and promotes civil enforcement recommendations in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) risk methodologies and appropriate risk models and determines objectives and strategies in order to meet goals, organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements. Anticipates opportunities and assesses potential threats to project/program completion as well as monitors and evaluates the progress and outcomes of projects/programs. Established guidelines, policies, and procedures typically govern work. Provides analysis of streamlined enforcement standards and programs and serves as a consultant in advising leadership on policy developments and actions for civil aviation that have the potential to impact U.S. transportation security objectives, security research, and development programs. Maintains a strong, collaborative network with the team members as well as TSAs inter- and intra-agency counterparts to advocate and advance transportation security policies and initiatives.

Qualifications

To qualify for the SV-J Pay Band (equivalent to GS-14), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-I or GS-13 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: Conducting, reviewing, and/or completing Compliance inspections and investigations. Providing analysis of civil enforcement standards and policies, while and advising leadership on new or updates to policy developments and actions for civil aviation. Monitoring compliance with policies, regulations, and agreements to identify potential problems and deviations from TSA and/or other Federal regulatory operations. Managing transportation security inspection programs, including compliance requirements for inspections and investigations. Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
