The position is located at the St Cloud Department of Veterans Affairs facility. The work of Facilities Engineering involves the efficient operation and timely completion of equipment and facility maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, station level projects and development and project management of contracted construction projects., Facilities Engineering is responsible for all ground's maintenance, to include lawns, landscaping, parking lots, roads and sidewalks.

Duties

Major duties listed but not limited to: Operates heavy, powered and non-powered tools in a safe and appropriate manner based upon task or project needs. Examples of equipment used but not limited to: Air-hammer, drill, saw, ladder, scaffolding, rake, dirt/snow shovel, lawn edger, backpack leaf blower, lawn mower, snow thrower, powered sweeper, gas powered tamper, pruner, lopper, wheelbarrow, and string trimmer. Other tools not otherwise listed. Conducts vehicle and equipment safety checklist to assure proper/peak-performance level before operation. Moves furniture, files, supplies and materials to proper location by use of pallet-jack, hand truck, cart or manually. Snow shovels walks, steps, roadways and other areas as assigned. Trims trees, bushes, and shrubs to cultivate, shape and make aesthetically pleasing. Loads and unloads trucks. Mows lawns, mulches or collects clippings. Edges in and around sidewalks and curbs, using power edging equipment or hand tools. Rakes leaves, dirt and debris. Repairs and cleans concrete, asphalt, roadways and walks. Cleans equipment. Assists craftsmen by carrying tools, materials, and supplies. Delivers laundry from user to laundry services and returns. Shuttles GSA and VA vehicles to and from shop and service department. Performs any other task as assigned.
