This VISN 20 Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) position is located in the telehealth service line, VISN 20 CRH, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, Idaho.
Duties
General Duties:
- Responsible for all installation of all software and hardware of Telehealth Equipment.- Maintain a strong working relationship with OI&T.
- Provides a variety of IT customer support services essential to the effective performance of VA systems. The work involves the planning and delivery of technical support services, including troubleshooting, installation, removal, moves, systems knowledge assistance and/or training in response to customer requirements.
- Provides group and/or one on one systems/software applications training to customers as required.
- Maintain remedy work order system to ensure a strong working relationship with OI&T as well as a strong communication process.
- As part of the CRH implementation team and VISN 20 CRH, trains staff at all VISNs throughout the United States and acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in relation to CRH training for TCTs, utilizing specialized equipment to perform physical examinations.
- Serves as a technical expert on CVT and Store and Forward technologies in order to troubleshoot, maintain and schedule all equipment for all specialty units, coordinating with TCTs.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of all CVT and Store and Forward technologies.
- Trains staff on telehealth equipment for end users and TCTs.
- Will maintain train the trainer competencies on all Telehealth staff, including master preceptor for TeleRetinal, TeleDerm, and CVT.
- Incumbent must possess a practical knowledge of a wide range of concepts, and methodologies in the areas of inventory, storage/distribution, and cataloging to perform a wide variety of duties in support of the equipment accountability program at the medical center.
- May participate in program inventory.
- Maintains equipment listing after completion of inventory by Biomed, Local OI&T, NTTHD, and/or Logistics on the excel worksheet. Corrects and reports discrepancies to inventory records.
- Ensures all equipment is bar-coded and placed on record; ensures all inventories of equipment are performed, discrepancies are resolved/adjusted timely to ensure accuracy. He/She works with Service Line Managers, and Senior Management to ensure proper accountability of all equipment within the Telehealth service.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm Variable.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
a. Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified candidates in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)
b. Experience and Education
i. Experience. One year of experience in a health care field, such as but not limited to nursing, medical assistant, or health technician.
OR
ii. Education. Two years above high school with a minimum of six semester hours directly related to a health care field or associate degree in a health care related degree.
OR
iii. Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.
Grade Determinations: Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical),
GS-7
(1) Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
(2) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs.
(a) Ability to use independent technical judgment to analyze, evaluate and resolve problems.
(b) Knowledge of quality control and assurance procedures and principles of performance improvement.
(c) Ability to function effectively between competing priorities.
(d) Knowledge of proper maintenance and troubleshooting of telehealth equipment.
(e) Ability to work with a team to provide technical guidance, plan, organize and coordinate activities of a health technician in order to effectively complete job duties of assignment such as distributing workload, monitoring the status and progress of work, monitoring accuracy of work.
(f) Ability to assist in Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) development, outcome management and strategic planning.
g) Ability to perform successful knowledge transfer regarding the use of telehealth technologies.
Preferred Experience: Telehealth experience preferred.
