Duties
This position serves as a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support) responsible for providing management and oversight to the Litigation Support Unit in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Typical work assignments include:
Providing and directing litigation support services by managing and analyzing case materials in support of trial teams.
Developing policies and procedures for adherence by attorneys and support staff fulfilling mission requirements and coordinating district efforts in litigation support.
Setting goals and priorities, and preparing work schedules for the Litigation Support Unit.
Processing complex and voluminous electronically stored information and preparing it for review or production by the litigation team.
Evaluating electronic files and developing a plan for their handling and management.
Utilizing software applications to extract or download electronic case materials from storage devices or transfer sites.
Performing quality control on electronic discovery productions and, diagnosing and resolving identified issues.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
Qualifications
To be qualified at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as analyzing, developing, and supporting an e-Litigation program providing technical and strategic advice on litigation technology applications to meet e-Litigation objectives; presenting complex electronic evidence; and, implementing suitable technical solutions to manage commonly found and complex electronically stored information in civil and/or criminal cases.
