About the Position: Serves as the Deployment Manager for the Force Management Division, subject matter expert for US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), located in Miami, Florida.

Duties

Determines the need for and initiates special staff studies on JOPES issues requiring command level attention. Leads and plans GCCS and JOPES software and operational tests, experiments, and evaluations. Discharges security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for personnel with access to classified or sensitive material. Familiarity with the steps involved in both deliberate and crisis action planning, as outlined by JCS manuals to allow for analysis and optimum use of JOPES support tools during each step of the planning process.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of?10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random drug testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing all aspects of JOPES, Theater Clearance processing, Force Tracking and personnel accountability including development and maintenance of contingency plans, communications with the National Command Authority (NCA), and deployment and redeployment of all military forces in support of joint operations including CJCS manuals, joint operation planning policies, procedures, and reporting structures supported by communications and ADP systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes InformationOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
