This position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), Office of Operations (OPS). The incumbent facilitates the accomplishment of NIJ's mission by providing internal office support in a wide range of administrative management areas. Performs a variety of administrative and support type duties in such areas as administration, travel, training, records management, etc.

Duties

Serves as the organizational liaison with the Office of Administration's Human Resources Division (HRD). Serves as the point of contact and liaison for the application of administrative guidelines and policies necessary for organizational operations. Provides assistance to employees by obtaining information or providing HRD contact information to answer questions concerning the various aspects of employment including, but not limited to, benefits, training, pay schedules, job opportunities, leave programs, Worker's Compensation Issues, thrift savings, health benefits, life insurance, and employee assistance programs. Serves as the submitter of request to the Identity and Access Management system for onboarding and offboarding of contractors and federal staff. Develops administrative policies and procedures that cover internal operations for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and advises management and staff on the interpretation of these administrative policies.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Develops administrative policies and procedures that require coordination of property, services, and facilities such as furniture, equipment, telephones, and short-term storage. Prepares and/or assembles FOIA response packages for submission. Provides advice and assistance to office staff in the resolving of a variety of administrative problems requiring the application of the various guidelines. Initiates and/or ensures the accurate and timely initiation of personnel actions and supporting documents. Technical Qualifications: Applicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications: Ability to provide advice and guidance to managers related to administrative functions within an organization, including human resources, budgeting/finance, and contracting/procurement. Knowledge of administrative management principles and methods.
