This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0614000 and is part of the FL AASF 1, National Guard.

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT (TITLE 32), GS-2181-12, you will perform maintenance operational checks (MOC)and limited and general test flights of aircraft to ensure airworthiness upon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair, replacement or modification of components or aircraft systems. Perform general or limited test flights including test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannot determine the safe and/or proper functioning of aircraft components or systems. Perform acceptance test flights of new aircraft when required. Assignments may include instruction to and evaluation of maintenance test pilots. Plan and direct the quality control management program of the AASF. Does immediate and long-range planning for all matters pertaining to quality control at the facility. Plans and establishes quality control operations and procedures for the application of Modification Work Orders (MWO) and Technical Bulletins (TBs) and assures that instructions are followed on all the aircraft supported by the installation. Answers correspondence, prepares reports and furnishes advice and assistance pertaining to quality control matters to supervisors, shop foremen and othermembers of the organization. Ensures that Quality Deficiency Reports (QDRs) are initiated and forwarded when equipment fails, deficiencies are discovered in newly received equipment or equipment improvements are proposed. Serves as point of contact for the AASF in communications between the facility and the labs in the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) and oversees the local aspects of the program. Inspects shop facilities, management practices , fire prevention plans, ventilation systems, lighting systems and aircraft and equipment records to assure proper shop and flight-line safety for personnel and equipment in the maintenance area of operations. Advises and makes recommendations to the Facility Commander on quality control matters.(3) Exercises supervisory responsibility over 3 to 8 subordinate workers engaged in technical inspection of the aircraft.

Requirements

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • MUST submit a DA form 759 to be considered for the position. This MUST show Maintenance Test Pilot Certification.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation. Military Grades: Officers and Warrant Officers: WO1 thru O3 Note 1: Applicants MUST submit a DA form 759 to be considered for the position. This MUST show Maintenance Test Pilot Certification. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must be a rated rotary wing pilot on flying status. Proficient in the unit-assigned aircraft (UH-60, UH 60, CH 47, UA 72). Possess the flying time established by gaining command criteria, and the certificates and ratings required for a Maintenance Test Pilot position. Having experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of the principles of organization, management, and administration of ARNG aviation activities. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 must have at least 36 months experience and training as a pilot in the unit equipped aircraft (UH-60, UH 60, CH 47, UA 72). Experience flying aircraft during varying conditions and circumstances to include day, night, and night vision goggles (NVG). Must have a minimum of 100 hours pilot-in-command (PC) and/or maintenance test pilot (MP) time (can be combined). Experience and proficiency in the planning and execution of general support aviation battalion (GSAB) missions and air movement/air assault missions. Experience demonstrating in-depth knowledge of flight safety regulations, practices, procedures, and submission of safety reports.
