This position is located at Departmental Offices, Economic Policy. As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will handle difficult and responsible assignments, including research and analysis of legislative, policy and regulatory proposals, and understanding the current state of specific sectors of the economy, as dictated by Treasury's policy agenda.

Duties

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will: -Draft memoranda to senior Treasury officials, present the issues raised by policy, outreach, and operational choices, and recommend courses of action. -Brief and advise senior Treasury officials and providing pertinent information for decision making on potentially controversial policy issues. -Lead and conduct policy review and analysis of a complex, highly sensitive nature on specific cases. -Explain existing economic policies (e.g., current labor union rules) at Treasury. -Highlight policy concerns for the Assistant Secretary across a wide range of potentially conflicting dimensions: like household incomes, fiscal sustainability, and global inflation.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience includes experience with 3 or more of the following: -Experience developing written analyses or memoranda for senior officials regarding the economic, financial, legal, or policy issues and recommending courses of action; OR -Experience preparing written products such as tables, memoranda or reports and communicating the analytical findings of research; OR -Experience creating policy implementation plans based on legislative and regulatory guidelines; OR -Experience preparing analysis or responses to inquiries from private companies, interested parties, governmental authorities, or members of the public. Time in Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
