Duties
Manage the auditing, training and coding for a variety of specialty clinics to ensure the quality of medical records.
Analyze and compile patient data that is used to improve patient care or control costs.
Analyze medical records to ensure that the records will meet accrediting agencies requirements.
Identify inconsistencies or discrepancies among medical documentation and discuss with appropriate staff members or committees to seek clarification and resolution.
Perform audits to identify, abstract and assign all diagnoses and physician services codes.
Compile reports and spreadsheets for audits, Third Party Collection and tracking purposes.
Correct interface coding error reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coding and billing in a medical treatment facility, reviewing medical records for accuracy, and auditing medical records to improve patient care and reduce coding errors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
