About the Position: This position is located in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) at Fort Campbell. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN. Incumbent will serve as a Health Technician, performing nonprofessional nursing care, appointment scheduling, and record keeping for patients within the medical treatment facility (MTF). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assist with the admission and discharge of patients. Operate automated data processing equipment to check in patients, verify demographics and patient's eligibility for treatment. Assist physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures. Schedule specialty clinic appointments for patients. Maintain clinic files in accordance with agency regulations and guidelines. Receive telephone calls and/or walk in patients to determine the nature of the call or visit.

Requirements

  • Work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires that you obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96, which requires Hepatitis B Immunization, unless exempted by a Physician. Hepatitis B vaccination is required within 30 days of entering on duty.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • This position may require shift work to include nights, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has a lifting requirement of up to 40lbs.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis (TB) testing.
  • Occasional TDY is required (up to 5%).

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical support within a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic; scheduling medical appointments for patients; screening, triaging, and taking vital signs for assigned patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semesters hours in subjects directly related to the position such as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Health Technician, Health Science, or Health Services. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
