About the Position: This position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY. The position is within the Orthopedic clinic, applying and removing casts and splints, making appointments, assisting Surgeons in the OR, suture and staple removal, applying dressings.

Duties
Casting and splinting, removal of dressings, and suture and staple removal.
Advise on inpatient scheduling and proper maintenance of clinical records.
Prepare patients for minor surgery by cleaning and shaving the operative area.
Follow sterile procedures to prevent contamination and cross-contamination.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- Must obtain and maintain BLS within 30 days.
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96, which requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician.
- This Position Is Covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program or a MOU.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a regular and recurring basis.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 5%. Government regulations will be followed for all official travel.
- This position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying and removing casts, splints, and traction devices for patients; assisting doctors with surgeries in operating and orthopedic rooms; applying dressings; and/or preparing specialized equipment for use in orthopedic surgeries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Anatomy, Biology, or Orthopedic Surgery.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
