This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D14440000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.
Duties
As a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8801-14, you will provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generation Division, Equipment Maintenance Branch, Component Repair Branch) of the Aircraft Maintenance Division.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Plan the overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, complexity, operational tempo, and total force integration must be planned on an annual or longer basis.
Analyze work plans developed by subordinate supervisors for accomplishment of assigned directives.
Determine status of work accomplished in relation to future demands, including unanticipated or emergency requirements mandating reallocation of resources as required.
Evaluate potential impact of improved technologies on existing programs and practices and recommend proposed changes to cognizant authority.
Coordinate and direct the work of units supervised.
Prepare and/or provide input to operating instructions and initiate work plans to be followed by subordinate workers in accomplishing critical or emergency work projects.
Determine long range and supervisory training needs for all levels of subordinates developing resource options, justifications and methods to accomplish training.
Use various management tools and computer technologies to ensure effective control of work activities.
Assure that subordinate supervisors carry out such programs as labor management and equal opportunity.
Promote and administer such programs as cost reduction, incentive awards, suggestions and quality assurance. Provide higher level management and/or leadership information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques etc. for mission planning purposes .
Determine status of work accomplished in relation to future demands, including unanticipated or emergency requirements mandating reallocation of resources as required.
Spot check work operations to assure production and quality standards are achieved.
Ensure that position descriptions are accurate and that position management principles are followed.
Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises, and Operations Other Than War (OOTW).
Perform total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ? 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Military Grades: ONBOARD ONLY - Minimum rank of E8. Maximum rank of E9.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs, explain manuals and work procedures and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-14 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 36 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which required the review of work requirements and establishment of priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
