This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Supervise, counsel, and motivate Police Officers and Security Officers through subordinate Supervisors.
Plan, schedule, assign, and direct work assignments for Police Officers and Security Officers assigned to stationary posts, vehicular and foot patrols, and special duties.
Perform law enforcement, security, antiterrorism, and crime prevention functions.
Analyze data to identify physical and operations security, compliance or non-compliance, vulnerabilities, trends, strengths, and benchmarks.
Enforce GPO?s drug-free workplace policies, programs, and procedures.
Conduct law enforcement, anti-terrorism and security functions in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures to protect GPO lives and property.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Applicant will be subject to an Access National Check with written inquiry (ANACI) and must be able to obtain and maintain access/eligibility to classified information.
- Firearms requirement: This is a law enforcement position that is mandatory for officers to carry and maintain bi-annual proficiency with the firearm.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers the position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- Applicant must have and maintain a valid state or District of Columbia Driver's license.
- Must have obtained a passing physical fitness test (PFT), psychological examination, and medical examination prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Supervisory Police Officer (Sergeant), PQ - 0083 - 7 , you must meet the following requirements:
You must possess (1) year of specialized experience at the PZ-06 (or equivalent) level or higher.
Specialized experience includes: ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of others; providing administrative and technical supervision necessary to accomplish the work of a unit; and working with federal, state, and local agencies concerning investigations involving incidents of mutual interest.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
