The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure a prompt and accurate response. This equipment includes police, firefighting, hazardous materials, wild land firefighting, technical rescue, and ambulance services. Reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.
Duties
Provide emergency 911 call taking and dispatching services and provide In Flight Emergency Dispatch Information.
Perform Medical Dispatch services to callers with medical emergencies.
Maintain maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs.
Operate and maintain telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, voice recording equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center.
Prepare and maintain reports and records relating to emergency responses.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
- Incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including weekends and holidays)
- Incumbent is required to perform critical services regardless of weather conditions or base closure
- Must be able to obtain International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Certification as a Telecommunicator, Level I and II within 12 months of hire.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification, CPR, and Hazardous Materials Awareness; includes initial and follow-up certifications within 12 months of hire.
- May be required to respond on off-duty time during a conflagration or stay over until an emergency has been terminated or until properly relieved
- This position is designated as mission essential. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority.
- This is a Key position. This position is essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbent must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Group Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in federal service which equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained assisting in operating 911 communications equipment and monitoring installation-wide alarm systems to receive, relay, and process emergency notifications, and dispatch appropriate equipment and personnel according to established procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of communications operations to include a basic know ledge of trunked radio operation, and patching radio frequencies.
2. Knowledge of basic computer operations to include work processing, retrieval and input of data. A qualified typist is not required.
3. Knowledge of location and availability of vehicle fleet, the type of apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at hand and a basic knowledge of firefighting techniques and terminology.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using a calm and stable demeanor while dealing with emergency situations.
5. Ability to multitask and to react accordingly within issued guidelines to ever changing information and circumstances.
6. Ability to Work independently without immediate supervision.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
