This position serves as an Electrical Worker for the Construction, Maintenance and Operations section of Facilities Management Service at the Seattle and American Lake campuses and all associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and Valor's of VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS).

Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Install, maintain, and test electrical systems. Provides installation, modification, troubleshooting, direct replacement, routine maintenance, and testing of electrical systems associated with a health care facility. Works on lighting fixtures, including replacement, troubleshooting and changing out individual ballasts and lamps. Reads and follows basic wiring diagrams that are associated with light fixtures, controls and motors. Selects the proper size and type of wire needed to complete repairs of electrical systems. Uses hand tools and portable power tools such as but not limited to screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons and manual/power conduit benders and threaders and a limited variety of test equipment. Uses computer to research and order materials. Other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Incumbent often makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffoldings, platforms and scissor/snorkel lifts. This position requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Requires frequent lifting and carrying tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Work is performed both inside and outside of the facility; travel to other facilities within VAPSHCS may also be required. Incumbent is sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy sometimes in close quarters such as manholes and interstitial areas. Incumbent is often exposed to the possibility of slips, trips and falls. May also encounter exposed live electrical panels, circuits and conductors and know how to safely mitigate the issue for proper repair Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
