The primary purpose of this position is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

Duties

Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. Prepares recurring and special reports. Compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats. Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials. Provides assistance to customers, storage depots, or other organizations. Distributes guideline updates and training material, electronically tracks and maintains receipt for reference purposes.

  • Work may occasionally require TDY travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, call back, holidays, etc..
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver?s license is required for the position.
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations, real world and exercise, as directed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • May be required to carry a pager or cell phone.
  • May be required to attend Hazardous Material Management training/certification.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
  • Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply Clerical and Technician Series 2005 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures and instructions applicable to specific assignment. Intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul and repair or other operations for urgent, critical shortage items. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in?-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. 2. Knowledge of hazardous materials storage and handling processes, procedures, and Federal and State Environmental Protection Agency standards. 3. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems. 4. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. 5. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies. 6. Skill in data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
