Duties

The National Defense Authorization Act for FY2020 approved a new, independent Space Force in the Department of the Air Force. The U.S. Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains & equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. This new military branch is taking shape and recruiting! Performs the full range of Mobility Bag storage assignments and Mobility weapons vault duties. Stores A, B, and C type mobility bags. Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling. Prepares recurring and special reports. Compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats. Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations, real world and exercise, as directed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • May be required to carry a pager or cell phone.
  • May be required to attend Hazardous Material Management training/certification.
  • May be required to train and/or guide on-base or off-base personnel on Hazardous Material (HAZMART) Procedures.
  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. (cont'd)

  • Must obtain and maintain small arms/M9 qualifications during transportation of weapons, exercises, mobility, and deployments.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (cont'd)

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for Supply Clerical and Technician Series, 2005. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items. Thorough knowledge of, and the skill and ability to use the Enterprise Environmental Safety Occupational Health (EESOH) system; apply Federal and State Environmental Protection Agency standards; and to research Air Force Instruction (AFI) 32- 7086 Hazardous Material Management compliance. Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49 hazardous cargo movements. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
