This position is located in the Office of the Secretary, Hearings and Information Division.
Duties
Provides assistance to the Office of the Secretary and other senior level officials to include handling the logistical arrangements for hearings and meetings and drafting pertinent documents necessary to conduct Commission hearings and votes.
Prepares a variety of written material including, reports, records, briefing materials, and statistical and narrative material required to support the Office.
Handling of sensitive documents that contain NSI information derived from Commission reports circulated via action jackets.
Provides customer service, to visitors and USITC staff in a professional manner
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period
- You are required to register for Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/03/59
- You will be required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check

BASIC REQUIREMENT
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 obtained in the federal or private sector which demonstrates all of the following: assisting with logistics for hearings and meetings and drafting pertinent documents necessary to conduct hearings, votes or a similar forum. Data entry experience inputting different types of data timely and accurately. Preparing a variety of written materials including reports, records, briefing materials, statistical and narrative material, and providing customer service to visitors and senior level officials.

master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 obtained in the federal or private sector which demonstrates all of the following: independently handle all logistics for hearings and meetings and drafting pertinent documents necessary to conduct hearings, votes or a similar forum. Data entry experience inputting different types of data timely and accurately. Develop new procedures and approaches for hybrid hearings and meetings. Assemble error-free written materials including reports, records, briefing materials, statistical and narrative material, and providing expert customer service to visitors and senior level officials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS-9: To substitute education for specialized experience, you must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related;
or
you may combine specialized experience and graduate level education which totals at least 100 percent. (school transcript required by closing date)
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
