This position is located at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago, IL. The Program Support Assistant (Office Automation) performs various administrative and clerical duties in support of the service.
Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates and provides administrative support;
Schedules and manages appointments;
Receives visitors and phone calls both for the service and the service Chief;
Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, letters, memos, reports, computer-related data, specifications, and similar material;
Coordinates meetings;
Composes and distributes meeting minutes;
Maintains office supplies and equipment;
Serves as the timekeeper for the service;
Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence; and
Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, applicants must meet the following:
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
~AND~
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant (Office Automation), GS-6 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: performing a full range of administrative support for an office; receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling meetings; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
